Jose Velasco, founder and president of Zebra Producciones is one of the most prominent and versatile Spanish TV producers. Founder of Globomedia in 1989 and CEO during 4 years, later moved on to found and become CEO of Zeppelin TV (Endemol Group), he has produced and continues to produce some of the most original and emblematic TV shows of the country across all genres: Historical series "El Cid", Prime Time entertainment “Inocente Inocente”, daily fiction series “El Super”, “Lalola”, “Centro Médico”, quality weekly series as “Querido Maestro” or reality TV programs as “Gran Hermano (Big Brother)”. In parallel he was appointed member of the International Board of Endemol and the Board of Telefónica Media and of the Spanish Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences.
Founder of Zebra Producciones in 2000, Jose Velasco has produced more than 18 feature films and has won 5 Goyas (Spanish Academy awards) and 12 nominations to the Spanish Academy Awards. He has also produced more than 1.000 hours of TV programs a year.
In addition and outside the field of audiovisual production, Jose Velasco also founded the web site muchoviaje.com sold to Grupo Planeta and was shareholder and president of Stage Holding, company that produced musicals as “Mamma Mia”, “Cabaret”, “Cats” or “The Phantom of the Opera”. He also founded in 1995 Fundacion Inocente Inocente, to promote every December 28th a solidarity program dedicated to raise money to help the most needed kids.
