Telefonica’s Movistar pay TV Channel, Channel Zero, has ordered a six-part series titled The Extraordinary Powers of the Human Body from iZen’s Zebra Producciones in Spain.
The series is the first format adaptation of ‘Les Pouvoirs Extraordinaire du Corps Humain’ produced by Elephant Group in France, also part of iZen group, for public service channel France 2 and which is now in its fourth series.
The format sees two presenters, in Spain these are actress Patricia Conde and science journalist Luis Quevedo, travel the world meeting extraordinary people who can do incredible things before exploring the underlying science that allows their bodies to perform these amazing feats.
The Spanish series travels to France, Italy, Morocco as well as multiple locations in Spain and mixes eye-popping visuals with populist science as we meet people who can simply do things that the rest of us can’t before revealing the reasons why.
Fernando Jerez, Director of Entertainment and Content at Movistar said : ‘We love the mix of travel, fantastic stories and accessible science that has made the show such a hit in France and we are keen to see if we can replicate this success in Spain.’
Jose Velasco, CEO, Zebra Producciones added ‘As a doctor turned TV producer the format immediately appealed to me as it is a powerful mix of science and entertainment. The series is a journey around the world as well as through the human body and it is fantastic to be working with our iZen partners on this format adaptation’
